In the cosmopolitan culture both men and women are equally conscious about their looks. Hair plays a pivotal role in enhancing the looks and feel of any human being. To enhance their looks men as well as women opt for hair transplants surgery if they face the problem of loss of hair.
Hair transplants procedure though is straightforward but quite tedious. The procedure involves the following steps :-
1. The hair follicle donor area of the head –the horshoe of the hair in male pattern baldness- is trimmed and a local anaesthetic is injected ahead of surgery.
2. A 1cm by 10 cm strip of hair and tissue is cut from the scalp with a multi blade scalpel and the wound is sutured. Follicles are separated for transplantation.
3. Following a pre drawn grid, the surgeon punches 1 mm deep holes or receptor sites in to the scalp with a needle. Individual follicles are then implanted in to the sites using a micro forceps and cotton buds.
4. A couple of days rest is taken to let the holes close tight around the follicles and gives scalp a chance to begin healing.
5. After a period of six months if the surgery goes well, a person may have an inch of new hair on his bald patch.
The procedure costs around 2 lacs of rupees, depending on the number of individual follicle grafts. However the treatment has a high rate of success.
The present generation of today is indeed fashion conscious and can go to any length to protect their looks. Hair transplant is a boon for them and they can safely overcome baldness and other factors as well.
